About Us
1980-Few Friends of dengibadi planned to start a puja of Maa Kali. With the support of the friends and others they successfully started the Puja of Maa Kali as a team with Rs.1200.00 in hand. Gradually the Puja Mandap dragged the affection of the natives and more people joined the group by extending their support towards the puja of Maa Kali. The continuous effort and support of the team and people made us to be able to offer the puja to Maa Kali in a sarvajainik event and since then there is no look back...
Today the Maa Kali Puja Committee is the largest and successful committee in terms of its presence in the District of Sundargarh. People love and very much affectionate towards the committee and at the same time very much supportive as well. The events organized by the committee are very much organized and managed in a disciplined and ethical way.
The trust & love of people towards Maa Kali needs no evidence. The Puja and offerings lasts for 5 days during Deepavali at the heart of the Sundargarh town. The Puja starts in the midnight of Deepavali and lasts till one week including the last procession around the town and submersion of the idol in the nearby IB river. During this week of puja, the committee arranges various cultural events through the evenings of puja with the well-known bhajan and melody artist across Odisha & India. You can see a beautiful art of LED light decoration and well known architectural and handcrafted mandap design during this puja. Maa Kali Puja Committee also gives a chance to the local artists and kids to showcase their talent during the puja week by various events.
The gathering of the people to offer puja to Maa Kali is huge during this time. The committee manages the puja in a very peaceful, disciplined and melodious way with help of the Sundargarh Police Dept., Sundargarh Traffic Dept. and Other Administrative depts. of Sundargarh. We offer our sincere thanks to all the administrative departments of Sundargarh for their generous help and effort in making this event a great success every year.
And last but not the least the puja committee is very much thankful to the people of sundargarh for their continuous support, love and affection towards Maa Kali and the Maa Kali puja committee, Sundargarh.
